DAUGHTER OF WAR

FILÓ

Maria Manoela Filomena Cardoso, Filó, was born on May 15, 1961, in Sá da Bandeira, Angola, exactly two months after the beginning of the Portuguese Colonial War or the Liberation War, as it was called by the Angolans. After 58 years, Filó is survivor and daughter of the war. The war that was her companion throughout childhood and part of her adolescence in Calombila, the poor neighborhood where she was born, followed her to Portugal. Today, it still faces the battle of permanent legalization beyond daily struggles, but without losing the sympathy and strength of those who have won many wars, small to large.
